Just sharing some pics from a proud new owner. Picked it up today. Can't wait to ride it, but it will be few months for the snow to melt. Totally stock, for now...Weight of 26.8 lbs. Yes, I am a bit of a weight weenie, but what can I say.
smooth ride! are those mavic 317's?? I thought they got replaced by the 717's, or did they bring them back or something??
Now you have to Sram it, put on some Thomson s/s or some sort of carbon combo (not my style, but it would look smooth) and get some dif tire/wheelset combo, but it's your hot rod, not mine so have fun and ride the shilt out of it. I've got a Fox 100rlc on mine and the SGF rocker arms, and quite a few other mods, a bit more trail freindly, although I still race it occasionally.
just awesome! I had some great memories of my NRS. Had to shoot her outback when I got my VT...couldn't keep both around. It was a day of mixed feelings...
Reminds me of my old NRS 2 (2003 model) which was good fun to ride.
If you don't mind me saying, if they are hayes mech disk brakes, look at getting rid of them because frankly they are such a crappie performing disk brake, that doesn't do the bike too much justice at all.

Thanks, I have actually thought about that already. These are So1e, a new single piston Hayes Hydraulic, so I guess I'll see. I had Avid mechs on my XtC and was quite happy with them. So if these act up, they will be purged...

Not a weight weenie bike.. the brakes, bars, stem, grip, seat and post all stick out like a sore thumb.
Also the wheels are heavy.
With that all being said, SWEET RIDE! I love the look of those bikes, reall nice.
BTW, those new hayes brakes aren't very good. If you can afford to, maybe look into some more pricey Hydro brakes, nearly everything on the market will be lighter then the Avid mech(which is a nice brake).
What? Stick out like a sore thumb? That is ridiculous. Everytime you look at a bike do you automatically look for an SLR and carbon flatbars/foam grips or something, and if not, the bike is immediately deemed as a heavy pig?
As for the brakes, I would ditch them too, look for a good two-piston setup, like the Marta's or Hope MonoMini's, that is if you're looking for more xc oriented brakes, good all arounders too though.
If your a weight weenie, then you should get the easton carbon post and bar as well. you should take whole load off.
