Loud "whack" sound on G-outs on my Trance XO 29'er

A couple of times now when I hit some deep ditches and "g-out" the suspension, I hear a loud "whack" that sounds like metal on metal. The first time I thought it was a rock thrown up to the frame, but now I've heard it a few times. I released all the air and collapsed the suspension and can't see any areas where there's metal to metal if it was bottoming out. When I compress it, it goes well below the level the rubber o-ring has been pushed, so I don't think I'm bottoming out the suspension.

    Anybody else experience this?

I have had the same thing a few times. I assumed it was the suspension but have not taken the time to investigate further. I suppose it is possible that on a square edge input it could be that the fluid cannot flow through the orifices in the damper fast enough causing an almost solid reaction. This could be what we feel.
