    I Don't Like My New Trance X

So I bought a 2012 Trance X4 and I don't like it much. It climbs well but the suspension is not smooth. Is it because the Giant Air shock sucks or should I have a totally different bike? I miss my Cannondale Prophet right now. Heck, I miss my 1998 Specialized Ground Control.

You likely got what you paid for.

I agree. So if I upgraded the fork and shock, would it make a difference?

Naturally, on a new bike that isn't performing as you expect, the logical solution is not to get your settings dialed in properly but to buy more stuff

Yeah, I said "new" but I've been riding it for a few months.

Like said a few posts ago, have you set it up for your weight yet? When I got my bike from the shop they " set it up" for me, but it didn't feel right (too bouncy). So I bought a shock pump looked up the manual for my shock and set it to what they recommended for my weight and used that as a baseline to do more adjustments off of...

It's dialed in good. I just need to upgrade the shock and fork. Thanks, everyone.

Yea I loved my x4 outta box. The more rides in the more dissapointed I was with the stock suspension. The design is amazing in my opinion. No bob and I can climb like a goat. There's only so much "dialing" you can do with that shotty fork. I suggest that be your first upgrade. I put a fox f32 on mine and it became a whole different bike.
There's something about those long grueling climbs that gets my front end all stiff... And I'm not talking about lockout...

The rear shock is not bad at all. You won't feel the diference between the stock and Float R. Get the RP23 or Monarch RT3. Than you will feel it.
