    Giant Revel Tires (Kenda SB8)

Having an issue seeing if its worth changing/upgrading the tires on the Revel in an effort to reduce weight. I dont have any issues with the tires as of right now, but was researching tire weights.

The Kenda SB8 come in different weights ranging from 520 to 864 grams. Im only interested in changing them if they weigh the latter, itll save me roughly 1lb per tire.

I have searched for the part # on the tire and simply cannot find it.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what year/model Revel you have, but if the tires are the SB8 DTC 26"x2.1", the tires should weigh 520g +/-25g. The 864g weight might be for the UST model tire, which I don't think your bike came with.

Turns out they aren't the SB8's but share similar numbers. Seems to be a tire Kenda makes for Giant.

If they are the same design/tread pattern as SB8, then they should roll very well. If you don't need the grip and the volume is ok for where you ride, your weight and riding style, I would keep them.

Even if you can get a lighter tyre, few will be as fast rolling. Ran them on the back of my xc hardtail in the summer (am UK based, so too little grip for winter), they made a massive difference to speed and acceleration.
