The Lyrik and 2.25 shock have been great for me. The X- Fusion Vengeance is also available with a straight steerer tube.

Giant Reign Modifications (Not Reign X)-img_20140609_074324_807.jpg

For fun, i put the front wheel from my new Troy on my 2012 XL Reign 2. 650b with a 2.35 Hans Damph has room to spare.
When I have some money to burn, I think a new wheel set will make this thing a monster truck :-)

Update picture. Finally ditched my crappy 36 Vanilla R. Wanted to go with a Vengeance, but ended up getting a Lyrik RC2L DPA.

What was the problem with the Vanilla 36?

Nothing really. Worked just fine. Just wanted something with more adjustability. Hands down, the Lyrik out performs the Vanilla though.

I highly recommend upgrading the damper to the DH damper. Sooo smooth.

Interesting. I have a Lyrik Solo R. Would this work?

What crankset works on a 2011? Is it the 83mm? Thinking about an upgrade. Does the Z crankset work?

Nice thread. I have had a 2013 Reign 1 for just over a year from new. Mods so far are - tyres - HD 2.35 Front and Nevegal 2.3 rear. 785mm Funn Fatboy bars. 50mm Giant AM stem. 1x10 drivetrain with 34 RF Narrow Wide ring. Rear shock stock bar the biggest air can reducer Fox make installed. Fork - stock but serviced adding more and heavier weight lube oil to lowers and some float fluid to the air spring to reduce the air volume - now runs at 70 psi and does not bottom out too easily in descend mode.

I would assume so, a call to Sram to confirm it would be worth it though.

The zee has been awesome for me. Loaded up I'm about 180 and can't detect any flex. The Reign uses the 68/73 version. Only downside is the finish wears off super fast, especially if you ride anywhere where there's sand or the dirty turns gritty with any moisture.

First. I want to thank everyone in this thread for answering all my noob questions. Its awesome just seeing everyone's passion for the Reign. I eventually ended up selling my 2011 Giant Reign 2 frame and got a new 2011 Giant Reign 0 frame from my LBS. I transfer the crankset and brakes over but will slowly upgrade as I go.

Went with a Lyrik R. I didn't get the lockout as I kept forgetting to unlock on descents on my Fox 32.

    Hey guys,

Looking to change up the fork on my 2013 Reign 1. I'm pretty new to mountain bike parts configuration and looking for some help. Trying to figure it out on my own but it's somewhat of a headache.

I believe this requires me to get a new hub, stem, spacers, headset and a head tube reducer for the top.

    Am I missing any parts?

    Thanks!

You can buy a new fork without having to replace anything else as long as you pick one that works with what you have. If a shop told you that you need to replace all of your components they are lying to you.

I'm trying to buy a used fork but from what I have read Giants head tube taper is not traditional (1 1/4" rather than 1 1/8"). This size issue makes it somewhat hard for me to find the right fork and why I'm trying to get those parts. Also the 2013 Reign 1 comes with a 15mm QR and I'm looking to get into the 20mm T/A forks which is why the new hub.

I could be totally wrong about this just trying to piece everything together before I spend $$.

You are correct, you do need a number of new parts. You can get away with just the upper headset, and there's probably a reducer available. (1 1/4 to 1 1/8).

hmmm thanks for the help guys think I have it figured out.

Cane creek makes a cheap alternative to reducing the upper headset diameter rather than buying a whole new headset.

Wish Giant didn't do this I honestly would be fine with the "30%" less stiffness they claim so I didn't have to buy all new parts. House brand hubs have no conversions either

Oh well you win some and lose some

That looks like a Spike Spank stem what size is it. 35mm or the 50mm I just ordered the 35mm red for my 2011 Reign. I had a 70mm and I wanted to try something shorter. How do you like the stem?

Yeah, it's a Spike Spank 50mm. So far fit just fine for me.

Poor thing about the stem is the top cap, it breaks when you tighten too hard or fairly hard. I broke mine few times of tightening, the material is very thin. Have to use stock top cap.

So I just ordered a Spike Spank 35mm stem for my reign. I have the Answer 780mm DH bars. I had a 70mm stem with these same bars and I just wanted to try something shorter. Is anyone else running a 35mm length stem on there reign or am I crazy going this short?

I'm running a 40, with a 780 bar. Love it. I would have gotten that same stem buti found mine for $15.
