    Cracked trance X1 29er frame 2013

I just noticed this today while cleaning my bike. I had noticed a few creaks while pedaling standing up over the last month or so. I have seen lots of posts about cracked anthems at the same spot but not many trances. It's right at the lower weld at the top tube, seat tube junction. Planning on taking it into my LBS on Monday to try for a warranty frame. Anyone else had the same problem? Any luck getting a replacement?

    Cracked trance X1 29er frame 2013

Well, it looks like we are going to have another good news story about Giant customer service and warranty process. The guys at my LBS took one look at it and although they were surprised to see a Trance with a cracked weld, they organized the paperwork straight away. I should have a new frame early next week and then not sure how long it will take them to build it up. I'll post some pics when it arrives. Just in time hopefully for my first race in 2 weeks.

That's awesome. Is Giant going to pay for the rebuild labor by chance? Better go check my x1.

Have not discussed labor charges yet, I'll let you know. The internal routing of the gear and brake lines would be a PITA though. I did my rear brake line when I upgraded to XT brakes. Was horrible because the holes in the frame only just fit the hydraulic lines. No room for even tape to hold a guide line. Glad I don't have to do it again!

Technically, Giant's warranty states they won't cover labor charges. That's really down to the bike shop. My LBS covers all labor on bikes for the first year. So when my frame broke after less than a year, they did the change out at zero cost to me, even though I'm sure they could have charged me.

    Cracked trance X1 29er frame 2013

Picked up my bike today two weeks after I dropped it into my LBS. Giant replaced my X1 frame with the 00 frame which I think was pretty nice of them! They also replaced all my cables. My only expense was a new bottom bracket which was on the way out anyway. Got to say, my LBS was great, the whole thing was easy.

Sorry for the slow reply, I was not getting notifications for some reason.

    Yep, I'm in Australia.

The frame is mostly polished Al finish.

Really good to see Giant is supporting their customers. Bad to see some new-ish frames going south.

I had a crack as at the seat tube as well. Took it the LBS and was riding in less than 7 days on a new front triangle. I paid the shop for the labor but I got the feeling I didnt have to. They were very apprehensive about giving me a price, but I know they need to make a living and didnt have to turn it around that fast. Price was more than fair as well.
