Absurdly priced for not even a full carbon frame. Aren't Tallboy's $6.5k for the top of the line build kit.

I've been waiting on the release of the Reign carbon but if it's going to be $9k, there's a lot of better options.

I'm back and the epic carbon is also stupidly priced but at least includes a full carbon rear and wheelset.

My point was if the Reign comes in at $9+k, there's a plethora of better options including the Mojo HD, Nomad Carbon, etc.

As Im not a racer, and ride a current AL x1 29er - the carbon 1 model for $4650 looks like its right in the wheelhouse to compete with the tallboy carbon, and others for the money...

    Cool-blue Rhythm

Great colour scheme at long last! and way less Giant logo's, even better!! Yep the X1 looks to be the best option.
Hopefully NZ/Aus will get XT rather than XO/X9 like we did for the 2012 Anthem X 29 0.

I was told by the Giant Rep in my area that Giant didn't do a carbon rear triangle because it would put the price "over the top and out of competition". Still high priced IMO. However, mine is already on the truck.

The white one looks good, not so much the blue / black one.

185 grams lighter than the alloy version, is that a joke? $8900, for an alloy rear triangle and people complain about 5k epics which have an alloy rear. Not saying it won't be a great ride but geez giant step it up.

Comparing alloy 0 and carbon 1 price difference is 850$ and shox are lower grade on carbon one... really not sure that it's worth the price...
altough that carbon downtube looks awsome...

Giant has stepped up, and many are missing this...it comes with carbon wheels. Part of the high price.

Anthem x29er Advanced specification & price on Giant Australia website.

    2012.5 Anthem X Advanced 29er 0 (2012) - Bikes | Giant Bicycles | Australia

Interesting that Giant are referring to the new bike as a 2012.5 model, instead of a 2013 model???

So it's got SRAM carbon wheels, and not the house brand?

Only the first bikes to ship out will have the SRAM wheels. After production catches up, they'll all have house wheels.

Carbon just cracks easier from crash impact. Those alloy Giants are tuff as.

Will it come with tubeless ready wheels though?

You should probably know what you are talking about before you start throwing out generalizations.
