    Anthem X Advanced 1 29

I test rode an S-Works Epic 29er on a trail and really like the bike. So I was contemplating getting a lower model Epic. While looking, I came upon a seemingly good deal on an Anthem X Advanced 1 29er, but cannot ride it on the trail. Anyone ridden both and has reason(s) that I won't like the Giant? Thanks!

I rode both and bought the Anthem X Advanced 1. The Epic is a great race bike but i didn't want to bother with the Brain, i don't race very much, and the Anthem was a better value for what i need.

It really comes down to two very different types of suspension designs. One is state-of-the-art, vertical axle path, active, and doesn't require a platform shock or a through axle in order to be stiff. The other is a mid-90's vintage, active but requires a finicky proprietary shock in order not to bob and also needs a 12x142 rear axle so it doesn't flex like a wet noodle.

Your call. You are on the Giant forum.
