Another "what fork for my 2012 talon" thread. Sorry

I know that I want a Fox fork, but I'm kind of confused on what to get when it comes to tapered or not tapered, 9mm or 15mm.

Yes I want to keep the quick release.

Can't seem to find a for sure answer

    Thanks in advance guys

If you don't want to replace your wheels, you nneed to stick with 9mm. You do not have a tapered head tube so you need to stick with a 1'1/8" straight steerer tube. Oh, and IMO go with Rock Shox.

Lighter, less maintenance and a better platform valve. Also better small bump compliance. Oh, and less likely to blow through its travel.

With your budget, get a Rock Shox Recon Gold TK, with 1.125" steerer and 9 mm QR dropouts, and call it good. For another $100 or so, get the same specs in a Rock Shox Reba, and call it good. I bought a Reba for mine... If you don't like either of those, due to money, then look at Rock Shox Recon Silver...

Helluva deal... Free shipping... No sales tax... They have just what you want, too (assuming you want black), for about $100 more than you stated... Do yourself a huge favor, and spend the extra $100...

Found the Reba on Amazon for $418 shipped. Gonna go with that. Thanks guys!

Either way can't ride for another 3 months due to a broken collar bone.

Did you buy it already? If you can't ride for another 3 weeks anyway, why not wait and see if you can find one on sale in the meantime? Might save a few bucks.

Oh ****...well in that case, definitely wait. If you have some patience, you can find good deals. I almost pulled the trigger on a new fork last year...I ended up waiting it out and found the Recon Gold TK on sale for $238 shipped. Definitely worth the wait.

Sorry for the late reply... I got mine from Cross Lake Sales.com(which I think is also random bike Parts. Com)
