almost got a trancex, but got turned off because of the shock.

i dont want another bike with another air shock.. i want the buttery goodness of a coil.

the trancex uses some special sized 7.25x1.75 shock.. a non standard size.

anyone found a work around? any quality 7.5x2.0 shock that can be shimmed down 1/4 inch? i like slack bikes, id put a 140mm fork on it pretty much the second i got the bike home, the last thing i want to do is steepen the head with a too long rear shock.

anyone? i love my trance and want to trade up to more travel, but not without a coil.

Do what I did, get a Trance x and a Reign x and you are good to go.

Last time i contacted them regarding this, they said they couldn't help out at all.

I really want a Rock Shox Monarch on my Trance X.

how would that even remotely solve my concern?

ill have to give the reign another shot.. i rode an 07 around a parking lot a couple weeks ago and it just felt terrible. felt like i was riding through a mud pit even on concrete. i think the air shock was under inflated though.. ill have to properly set one up and retry, all though i really dont need that much travel.. reign would fit a coil though!

why did giant use a proprietary shock size?

You could argue the same premise with Intense...perhaps others...
