    4.2" Trance conversion to 5"?

Can it be done? Years ago I bought a 4.2" Trance frame and build a bike to my specs. Nothing has convinced me to move to the rapidly becoming obsolete 29" (ok, I'm kidding - maybe ) or the latest and greatest, 27.5" size. However, I wouldn't mind getting more travel to go with the 100-130mm RS Revelation fork I'm running. Does anyone know if it's possible to do this by changing the shock or by some other method? At this point, a new bike is not an option. Thanks.

You'd have to change linkage arms, changing the shock won't help. Basically it'd be a frankenbike. You'll have to find new linkages from a compatible giant with 5+ inches and experiment. It may not work, that, and you'll void your warranty.

Thanks. The bike is pretty old so warranty isn't an issue. I don't think it has one anymore. I'll leave well enough along and just ride it into the ground and buy whatever is the latest and greatest at that point.

No use replacing the bike when I still enjoy it so much.

I wonder how that works if you bought a frame and outfitted your bike with a fork that has more travel than normally sold with a complete bike.

Good, you have a lifetime warranty. Swapping out to a bigger fork voids it.
