    2012 Trance x4 chain guide

I hardly ever use my third ring so I am going to put a bbg bashguard but I figure I need a chain guide to use the same chain, reduce the chain slap and miss shifts. I have a couple of questions

    1) can I use this type of product? Blackspire Stinger Chain Tensioner - Blue 2012
    Blackspire Stinger Chain Tensioner - Blue 2012 | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com

    or

    2) Accessoires I think it does double takes away the chain slap and guides the chain.

    or any recomendations?

you don't need a chain guide/tensioner necessarily. first re-size the chain to the correct length for the smaller 'big' chainring you'll be running and see how it goes. since you're keeping the front mech you probably won't need anything.

however if you do decide to get something, either of those options will work.

Can't use Stinger on press-fit BB. Bionican guide should work ok, if chainstay isn't too low...

I think its something like when in lowest gear, the derailleur should hand at right angle to the floor.

run the chain around the largest chainring and largest cog without running the chain through the mech and add two links to that length is the rule of thumb. mech should be at roughly a 45* angle when in the big-big combo and run through the mech.
