    2011 Anthem X2. Should I buy

    I am contemplating buying a new 2011 Anthem X2.

    Anthem X2 (2011) - Bikes | Giant Bicycles | United States

One of my local bike shops has had a 2011 Anthem X2 on their wall for quite some time. Is there anything I should be concerned about with it hanging on the wall for that long. The bike has been hanging there for awhile and they just marked it down to $1500 out the door. Would this be considered a fair price for this bike? I feel like it is a little bit much for this bike considering it is a couple years old, but the specs make it seem like quite a good deal. I've been looking at buying an anthem for about 6 months and had always kinda wanted a 29er but I don't mind a 26er. Any opinions would be appreciated.

It's not too much and the bike should be just fine. Remember that the shop won't sell it for less than what it cost them.

If it is 1500 out the door no tax then it is pretty good deal. It is 550 off the bike plus tax.

I would say that is one heck of a deal...I picked up a 2011 x3 last fall for $1750 otd and was excited about that price. This is the next model better, and it's even cheaper!

Fwiw, I love my anthem...it handles great, pedals well, and seems to be quite durable.

...just noticed you are talking about the 26" model...I was thinking it was a 29er, which is what I have. Sorry about that, looks like I need some more coffee this morning!

Have you ridden both the 26" and 29er versions of the bike? I have owned both 26 and 29er, and while both are extremely capable XC bikes, the 29er is for me. I'm a far better rider with the 29er and feel a bit more confident on it as well. Of course it's all personal preference.

That being said, $1500 OTD is a great price for the 26" version of the bike.

I have not yet ridden the 29er version but I have ridden multiple 29ers. They give me more confidence on some things but the trails around here are tight wooded trails and I feel more manuverable on a 26er. I plan on racing this summer and from everything I have read, this seems like the right bike for me but before I put down quite a bit of money for a bike that I will have for awhile I want to be 100% on it. I don't want to have any regrets on any bike I may buy. I don't think they would budge on that price and I don't want to offend them. Although, I feel like if it were $1300 or less I would definately buy it but I don't like spending money. Thanks for all the advice. I may go talk to the shop sometime within the next several days.
