    2011 Anthem X1 or 2011 Anthem 29er X2???

Which would you buy?... 2011 Anthem X1 or 2011 Anthem 29er X2??? I also found a 2010 Trance X1 for about $200 more... Or would you take the 2010 Anthem X2 on sale for $2280 and not look back? Which would you go for? Thanks all

Just FYI it will be raced a few tines a year. Currently live in north Texas moving to Germany. I know both bikes are capable. It will be a one bike do it all'er. Which would you choose if you had to live with only one??

So Anthem all the way? Like it's a no contest decision against the Trance?

Depends on how and where you ride, 26 makes for a lighter, quicker steering bike and better for smoother terrain. 29 has is a bit more stable and of course able to more easily roll over roots and other obstacles.

    So:

open fast xc terrain = 26
Loots of roots and other bs = 29

I think both are awesome though, my anthem x 26 is the best full suspension xc racer I've ever ridden.

The 2010 x2 is spec'd almost exactly the same as the 2011 x1 so you could get that and probably even get it a little cheaper than 2280 if you tried or shopped around a few different stores.

I agree but it looks like it is a far bit different. Tappered fork and top tube. Thru axle and it seems the linkage is a bit different too. Not positive though.

I think the top tube is the same but the headtube is tapered to handle the rigidity of the thru axle, you're right.

unless you live somewhere with alot of smooth but tight trails the 29er will be faster.

Where is the biggest weight savings found on these? Will do with the pictures. Before and after the first ride.

Wheels, tires, crank and cassette can remove up to 3 pounds.

I'd have gotten the AX 29er. but what's done is done. To lighten her up:
Light wheelset 1500gm and run tubeless
    Rear tires Conti SS
    Front tires Rocket Ron
    1x9 or 1x10 drivetrain
    Esi Grip
good luck n have fun riding the new bike.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'd really love to see some pics of those 29er X2s. Saw the X1 in person last night and just couldn't handle the polished finish. I've also seen an x3 locally, but the X2 seems to be the rarest of the bunch.

And of course, additional ride reports and upgrade info always appreciated!

    X2

I have been riding my 2009 Anthem X1 and loving it. I moved to a 29 X2 and am in the process of building it up after selling a lot of the stock components. Here is current status. The new wheels will be here Monday!

It has been a longer process but I will have about the same money in this as the 29 X1 costs.

PS I am selling my Anthem X1 if anyone is interested! (paid for a listing here)
