    2004 NRS2 seat post size

I am planning on getting a new NRS2 and would like to know the seat post size. I know my 2002 NRS1 had a 27.2 in a 30.8 shim. Is the new bike the same 30.8? I don't like using the shim.

    It's the same 30.8.

I believe mine is a 30.9- thomson. Maybe not - 30.8? I don't have access to my bike at the moment.

My new NRS 1 came with a 27.2-30.8 shim but it was loose in the frame and caused a continuous popping sound. My LBS installed a 27.2-30.9 shim and it fit perfectly.

Wheelie- I would recommend ditching the shim and getting a larger seatpost, it will stop the creaking, and look/function much better.

I'm creak free now although I will be installing a Thompson or Easton Carbon seatpost at some point in the near future as well as a ti rail saddle. I have already ordered a pair of Carbon Monkeylight riser bars and installed an XT cassette. I've also installed red alloy nippples in the front wheel. I want to get the bike down to the 25-26lb range which should be pretty easy with those upgrades.
