    White Lightning Easy Clean...

MAN! This stuff works great and make cleaning components a breeze, but is there an alternative, equivalent?

One can can get you two, maybe three cleans (6 oz. can), and it gets kind of expensive after a while if you clean your bike often...

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Stuff works great, I gave up on it due to the cost though. Someone mentioned that it can penetrate into certain bearings and cause problems as well.
The alternative? I'd guess ether (starting fluid).

I know...$6 a pop for two cleans is pretty high when you ride in the dusty-desert and require cleanings every other ride...

So starting fluid, huh? Would that be alright to spray in hydraulic brake levers and shifter levers?

I've never tried so your guess is as good as mine. The ingredients on the starter fluid bottle I have are: ether, heptane, propane, butane, and CO2. Nothing in it suggests it'd be damaging.
