It's my real name. I think it's silly when people call others - on a ride - by their MTBR handle. Instead of Jeff, Todd, Al, John... it's "TooFast35", "SSRidinPlus", "A45toRide", "JMasterCut29"...

So when people meet me and they ask me what my name is I say, "Dion". Then they ask me what my MTBR handle is, and I say "Dion".

The short version: I'm originally from Richmond, Virginia and am a rabid Southern History afficionado, having studied the War for Southern Independence since I was in the 4th grade. I'm also a biker, and named my first Harley "Traveller" after Gen. R.E. Lee's horse. "Traveller" then became my biker nickname, and I use it now for 99% of the forums I belong to and my gamer tag for online games. The 584 was my badge number when I was in the Air Force as a Law Enforcement Supervisor.

Anonymouse = name I've used on other forums, I guess it could mean 'anonymous mouse', no real meaning for it, I was out of screenname ideas that day

Tech = I work in IT, I'm a tech, someone had already taken Anonymouse here so I added the Tech part

Also my screenname is retarded. Do mods/admins take name change requests here?

I built a system of trails for the local middle school mountain bike club. For safety reasons, when I built a trail I wouldn't build an entrance or an exit until the trail was finished and ready to ride.

The kids would go riding one day and find a brand new trail a couple of miles long that wasn't there the day before. One of the kids said: "Jeez, it must be Ninjas building these trails." The name just stuck.

Remote canyon in Oregon near a 120 acers I tried to buy.

I made a full price offer but Oregon had such messed up laws at the time I let the deal fall thru. You had to buy the land, wait a year and then go before a board of your peers (???) to ASK for a building permit. I joke you not, what BS is that....

Got a computer around 10 years ago as my son joined the cub scouts and I got " volunteered" for advancement committee. At same time the wife and myself tried the open marriage thing. Her screen name was Sweet Cheri and mine was 1niceride. A little while later we ended the open marriage thing and picked up biking together. Joined soon thereafter and just used the same name. Given a second chance I would have used something else. Maybe thumbnut..maybe not..never got any dates with that.

Heyyall = Hey Y'all. Hey & Y'all are things I say. The problem is that people stare at you funny in MN when you say such words. I didn't realize I could have a space between the words when I signed up, so they are all crammed together.

The other mystery is my avatar. I've heard it called all sort of things. It is nothing more than an artsy picture of a SRAM 990 cassette.

My old screen name incorperated my initials and last name. One day at work I was bored and googled it. It was amazing and scarry how much info I was able to find out about myself, and hopw un-anonymous it was, so I threw some bolts at the keyboard and this is what came up.

My nick has sort of evolved into something meaningless. Directly translated it means "cleaner of sand". The story goes like this:

My last name starts with strand which in danish means beach. On time at a beach with some mates I flexed my chubby white clyde body and declared that I was a "strandløve" which is danish for beach lion meaning one of those super fit, tanned, muscular beach hunks. My friends didn't quite agree and commented that I looked more like a "strandvasker" which translates to beach washer and is danish for a corpse that has washed ashore.

The corpse nick stuck for a long time, I found it kinda cool and funny in a sort of zombie way and used it as a nick on a number of forums.

Over the time I got more and more comments about my macabre nick so I ended up changing it from "washed up on a beach", "washing the beach" to "cleaning the sand". Doesn't make much sense anymore..

Mine is just an abreviated version of my real name, with all the remains stuck together.

When pronouncing my first name, I let foreigners get away with something like "Bertie" or "Pertie"; the family name is a bit tricky for any non-Finns to say or spell.

When I was growing up in England, the Mods and Rockers were 2 groups that tore up the country. Mods typically rode Vespa Scooters, while Rockers were the greasers and rode Brit bikes cafe-racered up. Think long hair and leather to the Mods' dubious fashion sense and poncey scooters! That's what I thought then, and identified with the Rockers ever since, and as soon as I could ride, got my own cafe racers. It so happens that I have always worked in the concert touring business for big rock bands, and C is the first letter of my name, so I have been Rockerc since the earliest days of having names on forums, email, etc., my first use being early 90s I guess.
Then Harley Davidson named a model after me... can I sue them I wonder?

Octavius is the drummer in my favourite group of all time - Ya Ho Wha 13.

Jim Baker aka Father Yod is my avatar as well, the leader of the band and head of the 'Source Family', sure i was born in the wrong time/part of the world in some ways. Sure some posters from California or Hawaii of a certain age (older than me certainly, im 39) might remember them. The Source Restaurant on sunset strip in the early 70s?

All a big influence on me to adopt a healthier more positive lifestyle and biking is a massive part of that. Vegetarian, confirmed Jones-bore, weird music loving, graphic designing, tree hugger fae Bonnie Scotland...

I used to operate a sewage treatment plant in a little village in the macaroni mountains. A close friend's dad gave me the nickname"Norton", from the Honeymooners.

"Doc" as in Doc Holiday because i was sick for a good 6 months awhile back
"Mighty Mouse", I'm small and have might mouse strength
" The Vain " because when i get pissed i don't talk, blood pressure boils and the vain in my head takes on a mind of it's own
"Cookie", last name is cook and has followed me since birth
" B.C. ", my initials. name given by they guys at the bike shop I worked at in high school
" Spaz ". due to me undiagnosed bipolar, never know what mood i'll be but wait 10min. and it'll change

    although the title says nicknames,
the screen was made because all i have ever owned has been schwinns. not that walmart stuff, real ones. 8 over all, 3 current,. the Rocket 88 (88 go Jr.!) currently in the garage. and the Homegrown & Straight 8 are here in the living room. I chose to delete the C because the C is silent and there are plenty of other screen names in which letters are missing

BEAUTIFUL '65! I had one in high school, although it wasn't an SS, it did have the original 327 in it.

Well my screen name breaks down into two reasons why the name came about.

The first reason is because I owned a 1996 Kona Lava Dome mountain bike. It was bright orange metallic. 21 speeds. Complete Shimano STX group. To this day I miss that bike and have not found one as nice. So far it is the best I have ever owned. So that’s where I get the Kona part of my name.

The second reason is because I had a cell phone back in ’99 that had the digits 0197 as the last 4 digits in my phone number and I like that number arrangement.

MhzMonster: Megahertz Monster (used on most online forums, and my gamer tag)

Many years ago (back in 2007), I was into building extreme custom computers and a bunch of us who all enjoyed the hobby would have competitions to see who could build the fastest computer by pushing is components way beyond the manufactures limits (overclocking)... without it failing. One of the fastest that I built I named the MHzMonster (4.1GHz air cooled) it held it's spot for quite awhile, but everyone online started referring to me by that name rather than my build.

boostin - A present tense verb I equate to tucking my bike while catching air, getting as high as possible. Feels best when going balls out on a nice lip with a DJ bike.

An example, while not on dirt. (Please excuse the flesh helmet) :

I was trying to think up some bike related screen name and I'm awful at it, so I just recycled my screen name from Bigblockdart.com over here.
NY since I reside in NY, rr represents my 68 roadrunner and 496 represents the cubic inch displacement of the engine.
Sad part is, I'm so into bikes and wheelbuilding that the car is on the back burner and who knows when it will ever get finished.

Grinderz - Grinding down the km's/miles on my bike one stroke at a time. I admit that I am not the fastest chap out of the gate, but I usually reel a good handful of riders back in as the distance increases.
