Used 2009 Mongoose Canaan Elite HELP

Hey Guys!
Im going to check out a bike on CL. its a used stocked 2009 Mongoose Canaan Elite(red) said to be in excellent condition...it has good specs,however, it has some bad reviews for the frame...i wanted to get others opinion to see what you have to say esp if u have the bike. Im getting the bike for 500 dollars so the price is pretty good

My good friend went through 3 of these. The first two cracked and the third one, he sold as soon as he got it.

I had the 2008 model in white with the extra triangle welded where the stem post is. It was a sweet ride and worth the 500 that I paid.
