    The ultimate e-MTB?

I just saw some videos on U Tube of high powered electric mountain bikes literally ripping up trails. These are but the crude beginnings of the electric MTBs. The ultimate e-MTB will have the requite lightweight carbon frame and full suspension along with hydraulic disk brakes etc.

It will also have a big (by MTB standards) battery somewhere on the frame. Heavy wires will run through a controller to a lightweight high tech motor in the rear hub or a coil system on the frame that uses the rim for an armature.

More importantly, another set of heavy wires will run from the controller to another motor on the FRONT wheel. Yes, 2 wd for a 2 wheel vehicle. The same qualities as the legendary Rokon without heavy extras like an engine, chains, shafts and gears. (Search Rokon on U Tube).

I'm a life long human powered recreation kind of guy (except for a few dirt bikes). I have no interest in an e-MTB and I hope that they enjoy the OHV areas. But this would be a really incredible ride! The weight and maneuverability of an MTB with the power of a dirtbike and the traction of jeep with the front differential locked!

Not that I could ever afford such a beast.

Meh... nothing attractive for me about twisting a throttle. Not so incredible. YMMV.

Semantics. Doesn't matter to me what cutesy name (e.g. e-bike, e-mtb, etc.) is given to the device by manufacturers or legislators, by my definition if the drivetrain is powered either fully or partially then it's a motorcycle as far as I'm concerned.
