top bar extender for bike rack cause scratching?

I have a bike where I need to use the top bar extender bc my wifes bike have a sharp slope. Despite having a platform rack by swagman, xtc, the sharp slope won't allow me to pinch down on the ba securely. My question is, the aftermarket product connects to the seat pot and just below the handlebars but looks like it will scratch the surfaces from vibration. Do you have experience with this?

I use them and they work well and are scratch resistant but they're designed to hold the bike up for the stem and seat. They should work just fine to hold the bike down but they may slip over the seatpost QR in back so it may not stay up high enough for your purpose. The easiest thing to do would be to take your bike to where they sell them and test fit one.

I use saris bars like this

It maybe scratches the underneath of the stem a little, but hey
it's a mountain bike. It likes scratches unlike a road bike.
Keep trying to do the awesomest thing you've ever done.

I've got the Saris beam. I put some rubber stickies on the top tube at the front because the bolt under the front clamp has chipped the paint a couple times. The first time, it really bugged me, because the bike was new. At this point there are a lot of scratches, so it doesn't bug so me so much.

Used one for several years with no problem.

What is that your using instead of the seatpost? Looks like a carabiner and strap?

yup. i did not think it'll be a good idea to mount the TUBE ADAPTER on the Dropper seat post so that is what i came up with and it works great.

I use the saris beam with a reverb, and the clamp fits perfectly around the saddle mount. The only thing it touches is the underside of the saddle, and it puts no pressure on the cable. Just make sure the post is fully extended.

would not want to risk damaging my seatpost if i can avoid it... the carabiners and the runner are working perfectly for me and it makes my trips to my trailhead worry free..

Bapski, I think I'll try your carabiner method. I'm worried the extender will damage my carbon seatpost. Great idea.

yup that was my point. yes, the tube adapter can rest on the saddle mount but its still pulling on the seatpost to support it. and i've had instances where the saris tube adapter would just open up while my bikes are mounted so that is why i opted on the yakima tube adapter for my Rumblefish.

here's a link to a part list that i posted in one of the threads should you be interested.
