    sunline V1 all mountain stem

Just picked one up the other day and it looks burly enough for the riding I do. One problem though; the faceplate does not screw in all the way to become flush with the rest of stem over the handle bars. It is a 31.8 os bar and stem. Im guessing the space between faceplate and rest of stem is around 2-3 mm top and bottom. Should I be worried?

Thats what im hoping too, just wasn't sure if this small space in-between would compromise the strength of the stem and cause a total failure.
    Thx

I don't think I have ever had a stem tighten flush. Should be OK.
