So what DID you get yourself for Christmas???

MTBR current poll has an intriguing stat. It appears half of us give ourselves bike-related gifts for Christmas.

Makes sense. Non-riders have no clue what to give us, and riders are (according to the poll) simply going to give themselves the presents they really want.

But it raises the question: Just how merry is your Christmas this year? (Assuming you're not trying to keep it a surprise for Christmas morning...)

I admit to the following (so far):
    Ibis 941 wheelset
    NNic/RaRa tire set
    Endura Singletrack shorts
    Camelbak Volt pack
    Titan bike stand
Park tools: chain whip, 8mm allen, chain wear gauge
    Topeak digital psi gauge
Set of 10 presta replacement valves

Wd love to have an Ibis HD3 on the list but they're hard to get and am not yet sure of sizing...

Since I am last on the list I don't know yet. Have my eye on a 2010 Jamis Exile that's in almost perfect condition. Rockshox and BB7 hydros. If that doesn't happen I don't really need anything else. Maybe switch to tubeless or something like that.

so far new DH tires for next year's season and a RF N/W ring to star my conversion to 1x10. Will likely purchase a OneUp 42T kit, RF Atlas bars, new gloves, and hopefully a dropper post. I've worked overtime to save up ~$700 for my winter spending.

Got a pretty hefty bonus from work this week. Finally going to finish my Niner build. Ordered new XT Brakes with calipers, WTB saddle, post, stem and won a bid on ebay for Sun Ringle Charger rims with Han Demph tires. I will need to order a Chris King baseplate for my forks. All coming Dec 23rd.

Unfortunately not much since most of the bike budget went to building up a DJ bike for my son for his Birthday/Hanukkah. He asked me if he was going to get 8 gifts for Hanukkah and I told him I could take it back apart and give it to him in pieces if he wanted. So what DID you get yourself for Christmas???-p1000533.jpg

I got my custom frame paid off finally, a new I pad so I could buy more parts online and talk about it here. A set of pedals, chainring, bars, stem, cranks, spider, some shirts and a pile of parts from Profile racing. A Standard byke company jersey for racing on the track and a big box of parts from The guy who polished my parts for my dirt jumper. It still is not Christmas though so there might be more LOL.

Sadly, I'm happy with my bike, my tires are good, my hubs were recently serviced and are good to go, my drivetrain has hundreds of miles of good use left, and I'm hard pressed to think of anything that will keep me from enjoying my bike.

Check back with me next year.

Not that I really need any of this, but I just picked up a cheap ($20) CatEye bike computer (Velo 7) for a trekking (road) bike I have so that I can track my distance.

I saw a closeout sale on Garmin Map 62s handheld gps at Cabela's for $199. I checked, and they are now a "discontinued" model. Better, I think, than the eTrex 20.
I had a crapload of "Cabela's Club points" saved up and nothing else in their catalog or store interests me at the moment, but they were burning a hole in my pocket.
I already have more outdoor gear and fishing tackle than I can use.
Fool that I am (I should know better by now than to be buying old tech on closeout sales), I pulled the trigger on the Map62s, and I'm not looking back!

So, Since I've been such a good boy this year I've decided that Santa is going to bring me the following (whether he likes it or not):

1-Hope Hoops Pro2 Evo SP 29er Rear Wheel, ZTR Flow EX
    2-Shimano XT M771 Cassette
    3-KMC X10-EL Ti gold chain

Since most of the family will be out of town for Xmas, I'll be wrenching on the bike with a huge smile on my face!

Dang, all this bling has me salivating so hard I had to go out and buy myself a set of HRIIs. Oh and brake pads for the XTs. Please don't post any more new bikes tho. My LBS says he can get an HD3 by Feb. and you just might push me over the edge...

I just ordered some more stuff to give myself: a Selle Anatomica saddle and some of their "saddle sauce," a Meiser 15 psi max (Presta) pressure gage, and an "Incredible Bell" (so that I don't have to scare folks on the trail when riding up behind them yelling "On yer left!")

The only thing the bike needs or should I say what I want is a DBInline shock which will have to wait until after Christmas.

Santa did bring me some Teva Links and Bar Mitts for winter riding.

SO FAR, Jagwire shift cable kit (F & R) with all the goodies included. A relatively cheap light for at least getting back to the trail head late (if not to try a little night riding if it's sufficient), and a headband to help keep my ears warm. I need to get something for upper body insulation, too.

I didnít necessarily get myself anything for Christmas....Christmas just happens to be occurring shortly after Ibisí introduction of the much anticipated HD3. Coincidence? I think not.

After sloshing around the fire roads today, first 4-hr ride in 2 weeks due to storm of the decade, I'm giving myself one more present: A Pedro's bike cleaning set. Yes it's about as thrilling as a new pair of socks but what a mess my poor ride is...

Two BCA Avalanche Beacons, an Avy 1 course and a Browning 30.06 rifle with Nikon 3.5-14x40 scope. Was this supposed to be bike related?

Wife got me a Salsa Mukluk 3. I got myself some 45North Husker Du, and Q Tubes to lighten it up some. I also got a Race Face NW ring to complete the parts box 1 x 10 conversion. I also got a Gravity Dropper Turbo to replace an unreliable Reverb.

Hmmm. That has me thinking. With the traditional Festivus tree (pole) being aluminum, would a carbon fiber Festivus tree be proper for the Weight Weenies?

I did my annual fork and shock maintenance, replaced the brake rotors, one of which was worn through to the aluminum (oops). Replaced the cables. True'd the wheels. Serviced all the pivot bearings. Drive train was worn out, so I took the opportunity to convert to a 1X setup. So basically, I'm back to a brand new bike again. Ho Ho Ho.

I got myself a park spoke tension meter and a new xt crank. Still not in at my lbs yet, and it's not quite as fun as a new bike, but I already got a new ride this year.

Finally took advantage of a great sponsor deal and picked up a nice Rudy Project windmax helmet and some glasses with 5 lens.

Really nice stuff. Might get to try out the helmet today as we have unusually balmy weather.

RP windmax is the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned.

I picked up a RF NW chain ring and One Up Component's 42T conversion w/16T and their RAD cage. Installed it last night after work and will try it out this Christmas morning.

In same boat. I can't order my new HD3 till I make sure on sizing, and XLs aren't going to be available to demo till late Jan/early Feb. Guess I'll just have to put a photo by my bedside and moon over it for a month...
