    Question about rebuilding quando hubs

I know the bearings in Quando hubs are Junk. Even after a good cleaning, greasing they feel like crap. It always feels like I'm riding into the wind with them. Would these hubs benifit any if I replaced the bearings with something of a higher quality or are the bearing races junk also? I wish I could just replace the hubs altogether but that's not an option for me financially right now.

Second question: I've been looking at replacement bearing and I see them listed as "grade 25" and such. How does the grading sytem work for bearings and what do the numbers mean?

Is there any visible pitting on the cones?

They will never feel as smooth as a better hub when turning them by hand, but it should not make a significant difference in your riding if they are adjusted well.

Nope, no pitting. I pulled disassembled everything and it all in good shape. I've read that Quando uses crap bearings which is why I am considering replacing them. Oh, I forgot to mention... they won't adjust worth a crap. lol

Does anyone have any opinions on weather or not better bearings would make a difference?

And what about bearing grades? Can someone tell me how it works please?

Google can quickly explain bearing grades. Check this result out:

You can try new bearings, and that probably won't set you back much money. I've rebuilt Quando hubs, but I don't know what grade bearings I used. Adjustment often requires some patience. You may or may not be satisfied by the results when you swap the bearings, because the races of the cups and cones will still not be as perfectly machined as a higher end hub.
