    Post Your MTBR Browsing Tricks!

OK, so I recently joined the forum. First thing that got to me was, "Oh snap, I have to use my scroll wheel ALOT to get to the most recent post." I like the fact that each "page" can have a lot of replies (100). I am not a fan of the 25 posts per page boards.

With this expansion of the # of posts per page, I started using the "Home" and "End" button a lot more. Then I thought, how many others don't know about this? "Home" takes you to the top of the page, perfect for going back to Forum list or jumping to another forum, and "End" to get to the bottom for a reply or to see the most recent. See picture below.

Just thought I would share. Maybe I am the only one on Earth who hadn't realized it yet, lol!

clicking the little blue arrow next to the last posters name takes you straight to the end of the thread. from there you will barely have to scroll up if at all...

I don't bother with the "latest posts" or subscribed threads. In fact I opt out of the subscribed feature. I don't need anymore junk mail in my email inbox. After awhile you'll learn the forums you enjoy and go between them all. Once I get to a forum I scroll down to some threads I already have frequented and see what's new. I then go back and check out any new threads in that forum. If it's new or there are new posts that I haven't seen the script on the front page will be in bold.

Example: The threads in bold mean there are new posts that I haven't seen or it's a new thread that I haven't opened up yet.

Personally, I like the subscribe to my control panel option. I subscribe to a few forums this way and threads I'm a part of stay at the top of the page. If one gets to the point where I'm not interested, just click the unsubscribe. No way I would subscribe by email unless it was one I started and I was waiting for a reply.

That's a great feature but you can also just click the page # and it does the same thing.

Didn't even think of that. I run Blur and Adblock. I hate browsing anything on my phone because the ads are so damn invasive. I hit hijacking ads on mainstream sites on a daily basis as well.

Tapatalk is a bit easier to navigate, IME. While I'm working; I'm on the laptop though, and sort of follow DJ's way of browsing.

not exactly. clicking the page number takes you to the top of said page, hitting the little icon takes you to the last and most recent post in the thread.

I like to keep all my MTBR bookmarks grouped on my bookmarks bar for the pages I use the most.

I also like to use the drop down forum select feature to quickly navigate between the forums I moderate the most.

The "View First Unread" option at the top of each thread is pretty useful.

True, I didn't realize that because I wasn't aware of this feature. But, I'd still rather hit the last page # which takes me to the top of the last page and then scan down to catch up in what I've missed. I can see using the little blue icon feature for a thread that's not past the first page yet.

Clicking on the post number in the blue bar will put that post in the url. So if you want to reference a post in another thread, you can copy and paste it so your link goes to the post you are referencing.

If I'm looking for something bike specific I resort to google and add "mtbr" onto the end before hitting search...Otherwise I just randomly browse new topics daily until I feel a need to comment on something.

It took me about 15 years of posting here to notice the "All Forums" quick links drop-down menu at the top of this page.
