pedals... Shimano M520 vs M424 vs Crank Bros Acid 1

Any comments on these lovely pedals?

Wondering if the cheapest, the M520s are ok for XC. Better to spend the extra $ for the M424 or CB?

I would recomend the Shimano M540's over the M520's , the 540's clears itself of mud and debris much better . I dont have an opinion beyond that except that I dont believe they are 29er specific .

Definitely go with the 540s if you go Shimano. The 520s are a cheaper version and I have seen them grenade after hitting rocks. If you go Crank Bros, I recommend the Candy SLs or I think the new Candy 3s. Those two would be the most XC worth in my opinion. I have EggBeaters to, but find the lack of a "platform" annoying for when I want to keep a foot unclipped.

i'd go for the cheap SPD's
my one regret on equipment choice ever is having switched to crank bros.
    I dislike their pedals.
    go for spd

Pedals are pedals, right? No difference between 26 and 29, I presume.

Yeah, they're the Time Z pedals.

I started on SPDs and went to Time... will never go back; i like the feel much better. And the platforms work better than my previous shimano pedals that had cages. I don't trail ride with the flats, but i do ride around the neighborhood and the shimano pedals just didn't do it for me.

They are 29 week pedals (the Acids). After that you'll have to rebuild them.
