I just picked up a pair of Fiveten Impact VXI clipless shoes. The shoes are stiff for pedaling, grippy climbing up rocks, and comfortable for walking. Everything I was looking for except...

My XTR Trail pedals only contact the cleats. I tried an old pair of CB Mallets and they made so much contact that I had to gring them down. It is only a matter of time before the axle snaps and I like the feel of Shimanos better.

What pedals would be best for these shoes. I need to get un clipped quickly and would like at least a little platform to contact the sole.
