    ODI grips on carbon bars?

Couldn't figure out where to ask this so here's as good a place as any. Can't get my ODI lock on grips to not spin on Easton Haven Carbon bars. Can't really tighten anymore without stripping the bolts. Any tips? I think long term solution is to not use lock on grips but want to ride this weekend.

Hmm, some carbon bars come with inserts on the ends for bar ends. I've seen some make their own using pipe that fits snug. Is that the problem or are the bars simply a bit smaller diameter? If so, maybe some carbon paste or thin layer of friction tape?
Taking out those tiny allen head bolts, and put some grease on the threads couldn't hurt either way.

I don't think it's the diameter and being riser bars they're not designed for bar ends. I think it's the smoothness of the carbon bars against the smoothness of the ODI clamps. Refuse to rough up the carbon but mayble I can get a tiny file or metal grit paper on the inside of the clams to rough them up a tad.

Bingo, figured it out. These new style ODI plugs which pop into the outer clamp must have an inner diameter slightly larger than the bars so no matter how tight I clamped the outside grips would still spin. Mounted with no plugs and all is good.

I thought those were designed to go into the bar.

Re: ODI grips on carbon bars?

Those plugs just sit against the ends of the handlebar and are secured my popping them into the outter clamp. They don't plug in like some grip ends do.

I use odi rogue lock-ons on my new Easton Haven carbon bars. I used some carbon paste, no problems. I just slid them on with the end caps already on. They don't go into the bar ends, they click into the collar.

Either way, the end caps are on and the grips don't spin at all. Didn't do the bolts up overly tight. Carbon paste actually works...
