    I've got 2 Giant bikes....

3 actually. But i have a question on two of them? My 2011 Trance X4 and my 2002 Giant AC-1. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be common knowledge or not, but can i interchange parts between the 2 bikes? The main thing i'm wanting to know is if i can take the fork from the AC and put it on the Trance? It's a aftermarket fork and i like it better....i think.

Or should i just check sizes on everything and compare? Again not sure if it's common knowledge that parts on the same brand of bike are interchangeable? Thanks for any input!

Looking at both bikes on Bikepedia.com it looks as though you should have no problem. The differences being the steer tube length and I am not sure if the Trance has a tapered head tube or not. It looks as though both forks have about the same travel so that shouldn't affect the geo to much. I say give it a shot!

Excellent. I shall be checking out Bikepedia.com today as well. I haven't owned a bike since 1989 when it was a General Freestyle bike!

i'm fairly sure that 2011 trances have a tapered head tube.

It means that the fork on your trance may have a tapered steer tube meaning that it tapers from 1 1/8" to 1.5." If this is the case then you may need either a different crown race for the fork you plan on installing or a new headset that allows a straight steer tube in a tapered head tube.

It might be easier to do some adjustments to fork on the Trance,if it has any.
