    Ibex forums is no more?

I came to check out the Ibex forum and discovered it no longer exist. I am surprised by that due to the fan base they had a few years ago. Did you guys give up on the new owner? I have a new Ibex frame that I am going to have built up shortly and was just checking to see if anyone had experience with the new bikes and what I should expect. Alright former Ibex guys, where did you go?

some crazed political offshoot of MTBR and a rogue SuperMod started an online battle of truly entertaining epicness of butthurt and ALL CAPS e-hassling...

    from there it went sideways...

after that i'm not sure...i don't ride an Ibex.

    so tater...how ya doin?

Fine, got tired of the total lack of anything resembling respect over there.. I really do have a brand new Ibex frame. The new owner sent it to me about 6 months ago. I am going to take the parts off my 2005 Stumpy and build this thing up. He did a good re-design that took care of the problems with the frame failures that had plagued the previous owner. I am not at all familiar with the bike and was hoping that some of the old Ibex faithful would give me advice on how best to build this thing up.

I'm actually not sure what happened to the ibex forum - i'll follow up with you later.

Pretty sure you'll get some good responses....Ibex are/were popular bikes based on their pricepoint.

if I run across anything I'll post here.

Thank you. I have actually talked to the new owner of Ibex, Gavin. He is a really good guy and is trying to make his mark in the biking world. I did get to review his new carbon 29er and found it to be an excellent value for the money and the type bike it was. I am most concerned that the old Ibex faithful were so loyal to the old owner but haven't really taken to the new guy.

just did some quickie searches on the Maroc - looks like a quick Race rig

you're gonna like how carpet fiber feels on the trail - nice vibration dampening, but super stiff accelerating.

Stupid, but sometimes witty. Occasionally brilliant. Slow and fat though.

a point that's hard to argue.

now back on topic - what bits off a tater's 05 stumpy will work with his new carpet fiber frame?

    bars/stem/brakes/rotors/cranks/rear der.....how about front der?

with his existing brake cables feed thru the new Maroc frame internal routing?

He has had this "frame" for almost a year, even Rain Man would have figured out all the compatibility issues by now.

the shifters will probably work and the chain maybe if its long enough, I'd bet on the cassette too. Maybe the tires? Saddle?

i think an '05 stumpy is a 26" wheeled bike.

kinda hard to stretch a tire over a 29" rim dontcha thunk?

yeah maybe, I don't have a 29er so I wouldn't really know, nor a stumpy. But if one had enough upper body strength I guess it could be done kinda

    But you are probably right.

It is not the Maroc CF frame. It is a 5 inch dually front and rear. Just a regular old bike but newer than what I have (I think it is the new version of the Ignition)

Just swap the wheels and everything straight over. Disc brakes open up all kinds of options.

    It will be awesome

I'm picking up a used Ibex 03 Ignition-2 on Friday. I found it on CL and it looks in superb condition. If it looks and rides as good in person as it looks on CL, I'll be very happy! For only $175, it seems like a good deal for this beginner.
