800 mm Kore Torsion bars on a Raleigh XXIX. I am 6'3" and they really opened up my chest and made for better breathing while climbing and better overall control and leverage on the SS rigid

I am 6'2 an I am running Ragley Carnegie carbon bars. I have a pair of the Carnegie bars in alloy as well. They are 685mm wide but heavily swept 25 degrees so they feel more like 700mm bars.
They are excellent bars and are super comfortable.
Ragley also make a standard riser called the Wiser bar with standard sweep (8 degree) in both carbon at 700mm width and 720 width and alloy at 710mm.

685mm ragley carnegie's the wider the better for leverage biggest mistake i made was setting up my 29 like my 26, i find lower flatter bars work better for cornering

630mm on my Air 9. I'm considering cutting it to 600mm, though.

Just bought an Anthem x3 29er.....been out on a few rides. I know now that my back can't take that flat bar.
We have a lot of tight single track here meaning "tree banging"
Just ordered the Easton EA70 Monkeybars with 30mm rise at 685mm length. That's just a few mm shy of the stock bars on the x3 so shouldn't lose any leverage. Medium frame has a 90mm stem though I am probably going to take the bike in and swap for an 80mm.
Hopefully this won't effect handling too much and save me from a back ache....

+1 for Enve risers - I've got them on my XTC1 and love 'em. Super light, strong and plenty wide.

685. Thats about as wide as I can go without having to stop to squeeze between trees at a few of the places I ride.
I recently rode a friends old klein for a few minutes. The bars are original from 1997, probably only 580mm or something. Man, did that feel rediculous. I donated a set of 635mm bars to him.

I used to roll with a 24" bar (came with the bike, I was meh). I got a hookup with a Kore that I cut to 28". Night and frick'n day. I did shave a bit of flesh off one of my pinkie fingers (through the glove) before I had gotten used to the change.
Another bike new to my stable has [older] 26" monkeylite. I can feel the difference..recent order of haven carbon bars to fix that.
Yet another bike I spec'ed with the Haven alloy. Ride is nice.
All three spec'ed with shorter stems (55mm/60mm), I'm 5'7" chick in Norcal.

Upgraded to 30.5" or so bars on the newest member of the stable - trying extra wide moustache bars for the first time was a revelation (I also tried them in narrower but preferred the extra width), you've gotta watch it going through posts or really in the trees, but totally worth it for the other 90% of the time, control feels more precise and the extra hand positions are helpful. (Not width related, but man, the moustache bars are great for getting out of the saddle.) I'm 5'6" and have short arms for such wide bars but a 48" chest.

Truvativ 680mm. I would have gone a little narrower but liked the 40mm rise.

Did I catch a niner?

680mm Origin8 Pro Sweep
Personally I do not like it over my inverted mary bars, it's just too wide and I do not care for the hand position so going back to inverted mary.

I tried the super wide riser bar thing on my 26er and it wasn't for me. It felt horrible compared to my preferred shoulder-width bar (44-46cm) with straight bar-ends for climbing and sprinting. I personally felt much stronger and more comfortable that way. Plus, the wide bars were a nightmare on tight singletrack, Perhaps it is my roadie and old-school MTB background coming through, but I just never "got" wide riser bars with no bar ends.
With all of that said, I've installed a set of Jones "Loop" H-bars (667mm c-c) to see how I like them for all-round use (commuting, fire roads, singletrack, road riding), and so far, I love them. Because of the pronounced sweep, the widest point is also closest to me, which feels very natural for cruising around town or for a really solid position when negotiating the tricky stuff.
The primary hand position is almost dead-on shoulder width for me, and the sweep angle is sharp enough that my hands feel pretty natural when climbing (no need for bar ends).
Sweet.

The mtb I bought about 4 years ago came with 565mm bars, and I thought they were super wide. Ha. When someone finally pointed out to me that I might get some benefit from wider bars, I bought some 680mm fully intending to cut them down. It was enlightening, and of course never cut them down.
My new Scalpel came with 700mm bars (which are 710mm with the grips), and while they feel great, I only do XC type riding, so I'm wondering if I should give up a bit of width for some clearnace peace of mind. I'm 6'0"... maybe cut down to 685mm?

Are the wider bars causing you issues, like hitting trees? I had debated cutting my bars (700mm as noted previously) down a tad because in 2 areas that I ride from time to time they are just a bit too wide. One of the trails runs between the crotch of a tree and I flat out stop when I get to it but have found that I can actually get around the tree on the high side. I'd need to cut about 3" off my bars to get through there. The other spot I have trouble with is at another trail where I end up between a very large old oak and a rock wall, only having about 3/4" of clearance. I can get through if I slow down but it's definitely tight. Those 2 places are not enough for me to want to cut my bars down because the pros outweigh the cons.

I run a set of Sunline V1's that I picked up off of Chainlove. 745mm wide with a 15mm rise. They're marked down to 700mm but I'm liking the way they feel at 745.

I have been using the 710mm Niner Flat Bar on 80 MM Thomson Stem - 29er Rigid.
Really like the leverage and control.
