Headbands - Halo 2, Sweat GUTR, others?

I ride trails and run on a regular basis. And, I live in Texas where it gets to a billion degrees. I sweat heavily during normal activity. During the hot summer, I'm drenched...

For the last year I've used the Halo 2 headband with some success. I bought two of them and about halfway through my run/ride I would swap for the dry one. They still become so saturated sweat will drip into my eyes.

The other day I bought a Sweat GUTR headband. Tried it for the first time today and it seemed to work on a short run. I still feel like I'll need to bring along a sweat rag when using it on a longer run/ride, though.

Has anyone found something they like better than either of these two solutions?

I use both the Halo and the Gutr.
I find the Gutr to be way uncomfortable, almost painful on long rides.
The Halo works OK, but I can saturate that within 1/2 hour on a hot day.
I normally wear a Buff over the Halo, knotted in the back.
The back knot tends to pull the sweat in that direction.
Still looking for a better solution. Gonna try a Halo "super wide" next....

Buff all the way. I wear them all the time, on my mountain bikes, motor bikes, running, anywhere I am sweating. I usually have 2 with me also, and the other good thing is that if it is really sunny, they can be pulled over the head to prevent sunstroke, or at least to help...

Halo's are good, just make sure that the hard yellow strip is above your eyebrows or you will get leakage.

been using the halo so far this year. works pretty well and i sweat like a big. placement is key...right above the brow is ideal.

...but there's nothing like having the halo tatoo on your forehead for the rest of your day after your ride.

Halo is better than gutr but I'm a heavy sweater; thanks for the placement tip above the brow, I'll be cognizant next ride where I place it and see if that makes a difference for me.

Halos and Gutrs have never worked for me. Something about the contour of my forehead. Plain old elastic terry cloth headband from the tennis section of the sporting goods store is my secret weapon. The only issue is that they make helmet fitting a bit tricky.

I had to look up Buff, I'd never heard of it. There's a 'how to wear it' demo here.

Gotta admit that looks neat. I could especially see how useful it would be on my winter runs or rides.

Cotton... It just soaks up sweat/water without letting it evaporate too well. Besides, synthetics are cooler.

... The Halo and other one are synthetic, right?

The buffs depend on good airflow through your helmet to actually evaporate the sweat.

Never heard of it. It's this one, right?

What do you like about it? Does it ever get saturated to the point you have to wring it out?

I'm interested because I've used both the halo and gutr and am still searching for the 'right' headband for me...

marpilli - yes, that's the one. I got a white one, so the salt coming from sweating is less visible.

the best part of this headband is - no matter how much i sweat, this thing keeps my forehead dry. i seems like all that water coming out from you gets evaporated right away through it. (i'm talking summer weather, not winter riding )

a bit pricey though - i think i paid for it ~ $30 CDN. worth every penny. it does what it supposed to do.

I like the Under Armour Skull Cap. Not specifically designed for cycling, but designed to keep sweat running down your face. I think it keeps my head cooler as well. Cheaper and easier to use than many of the cycling-specific gear.

God, that looks hot. Seems like it would mash your hair down and prevent your hair from wicking moisture.

+1 for Halo. bandanas, cotton elastics never worked for me. Never tried the GUTR, halo works for me. Good luck, I know how annoying sweat can be, ive forgotten my halo somedays and its not pretty. Now I hook it to my helmet straps after I wash it.

I'm a sweathog. I accidentally ordered the full bandana version of the Halo... I mean to order just the headband version thinking it would keep me cooler. I'm glad I ordered the bandana version, as it soaks up a lot of sweat that would otherwise go down my face somewhere.

It does do a really good job of keeping sweat out of my eyes. The extra absorption of the bandana makes me think it will work better than the Gutr, but I haven't tried the latter so that's just speculation.
