    Fork travel increased after service

    Hi all

I wanted to service my wife's fork. Just to replace dust seals+foams and the oil.
So i did everything according to rockshox technical manual.
The fork is Rockshox Recon TK 2012. Everything was smooth no problems at all taking apart, cleaning greasing and re-oiling. (put exactly 147ml oil) and putting all back together went smooth.

Now the problem is the fork travel lenght increased from 100mm to 134mm. I took a ride and looks like the fork is working properly. Well the travel works smoother actually. it works like rockshox SID instead of recon ))) funny...

I am really confused. I know that i will need to rebuild it probably but, any help or suggestions will be great!
(there was no spacers to remove, so the problem can't be spacers)..

    Thanks!

Did you put the correct amount of oil in the lower? I know that if the upper oil leaks into the lower it will reduce your travel. I assume no oil in the lower would do the opposite.

^ this is probably on the right track. Some oil volume may not be right. You have upper, lower and both sides. So there are 4 different volumes and sometimes 2 different weights.

You didn't say if it was Recon gold or silver, but based on 147ml, I'm assuming silver. If the bike is a 29er you may have put 14ml too much. Here's the chart for 2012...
