Easton EC70 Stem on a mtb

Been looking to shorten up the stem on my XTC and I have a 90mm EC70 in my box of bits. Thinking it would be perfect for my XTC29er but worried it may not be strong enough as it's pretty much designed for road. I ride single track and general xc. Any thoughts appreciated.

90mm would be a shorter stem for you?

Yea the existing one is 110mm. It's a large size frame and im just trying fine tune the fit a bit.

Give it a try, what's the worst that could happen.

Contact Easton for their recommendation. Though I can tell you right now that if it is a 'road' stem, the answer is going to be no.
