    Dropping chain

I converted mountain bike 2x10 to SS by removing small chainring, front and rear derailleurs, and cassette. I rode it that way for a few weeks and today reinstalled my cassette and rear derailleur. My chain jumped off the front chainring four times on a road ride. Every time, it came off to the outside. While riding SS, it never came off once, even with a shortened 10 speed chain.

Maybe the chain I am running with gears has a bad link? I don't think it is the chainring because it did fine as SS.

    Any ideas?

I read some similar threads and apparently I need some type of guard. Guess I'll just slap the FD back on.
