I use a 3/4 length halberd for the close quarter bear attacks but for those bears out of arms length that's what the BOB trailer mounted trebuchet is for.

This is how I roll in bear country ... not that I ride there much.Also, I just one-upped whoever name dropped Krull in the lulzy sci-fi category.
I always say, it's better to have a mace while out on the trail and not need it then to need a mace and not have one.
