Do you always wear a helmet no matter where you go on your bike?

Whether it's just a quick spin in the neighborhood or some other place, so you always wear a helmet?

Stupid not to. All it takes is a low speed spill and whacking your head and it's all over.

Riding road or trail, yes. Dinking around the yard, or slow bike paths, nope.

Nope, I'm the not smart crowed errr old n dumb. I only wear my helmet when riding real MTB trails..around the hood, quicky to the beer mart or a bike/walking path exercise quicky 5 miles around the hood I never put on my helmet, ball cap and sunglasses. I have flipflops on or velcro type sandels too. My bike won't leave the ground when I dress like this so I ride accordingly.
Heck, my first bike helmet EVER was just last year when I got back into this sport.
When I was a BMXer the only time I "HAD" to wear a helmet was when I entered the local BMX race...I wore a Moto helmet then LOL (late 70s early 80s)

That's the key for me. Common sense goes a long way.

On the trails? Yes every time without exception. I once turned around and went home when I got to the trailhead and realized I didn't have my helmet.

Around the hood or to the park near my house? Honestly, I don't wear helmet unless I'm riding with my kids. And I do that to set an example of course. By nature they are far, far clumsier than I am on a bike but it's hard to impress on them they have to wear helmet if I'm not wearing one.

Wear my helmet on the trails and roads. The only time that I don't wear a helmet is when I'm riding to my fishing spot. Its a remote, wide, flat fire road and there's too much gear on me and the bike to go fast.

I do, I got kids not only does it increase my likelihood of being around to see them, but it sets a good Example

Nope, I don't wear it all the time. But nearly every mountain biker I see tells me about it when I don't. Is it more dangerous? Yes, but we all have the capability to calculate our individual levels of risk acceptance. Even those that wear helmets on every ride do that same calculation but don't like to admit it, i.e. wear a helmet, but not a full face, pads, or neck brace even though you can use the same danger arguments they use to wear a helmet all the time.

I do, with two exceptions. If I hop on my bike to roll the 200 yards to the brewery, I usually don't. And if I'm riding a trail I think merits a full-face, it usually means I'm climbing with it strapped to my pack. Most of those rides are straight up and then straight down. If there's some descending or level, I'll put the helmet back on.

When I was young (long before helmets were created for Bicycles), I was in a bad bicycle accident. All I did was ride around the corner to my friend's house. To this day I do not know what happened, but when I was found I had a large lump on my head and green automotive paint pigment in my hair and on my scalp. I was lucky to awaken nearly 24 hours after being found. I was 8 years old, I'm 52 now and lucky to be alive. I wear my helmet.

Like Evasive ^ I wear mine when I am in rocks and with some downhill pointing. If I am climbing a long climb, it's on my pack, and if I am on flat trails with just dirt, I rarely wear one. Precious few trees to hit here! I would count myself lucky to miss a cactus and hit a tree. This personal risk awareness has worked for me for over 50 years, and I hope it will continue to do so.

The "guilt" I've been lead to feel based on the industry and all the Dudley Do-Rights forces me to use a helmet even when I'm just pulling my bike up from the basement.

Which is worse: Jewish guilt, Catholic guilt, or helmet guilt?

I always wear a helmet and gloves and sunglasses when I'm on my bike but I'm ok with it if others choose not to because it thins the herd

Yes, the trails are littered with unhelmeted corpses. I swear that my local trail is looking more and more like the trail from camp 4 to the top of Everest with each passing day. Thank god most of them are easily huckable.

Well, the obvious conclusion is that if climbing Everest, you should always wear a helmet...

Used to only wear it when on the trails or road rides off campus and commuting in the winter. Now my wife requests that I wear it all the time, so I comply.

Trails hell yes. Riding solo to the store or something, was till my helmet broke (straps broke away from shell). If I have my kids I still do, just looks odd wearing a bell stoker to ride the bike paths
