How do I determine if my frame takes a 36/45 (CK) or a 45/45 (campy) headset bearing???

If you go down to the LBS you can take a look at your current one and the replacement. I also want to say that Cane Creak has a data base of what common frames use what. But I could be wrong on that one. FSA also makes a go/no go style gauge that you can use to figure out what you need. Or maybe if you told us what frame it was somebody would know what you need.

It is a Felt six race. The flanges are ever so slightly stretched- so someone suggested I try a campy spec'ed headset which is 42mm, over CK which is 41mm.

If they are stretched it's most likely going to be in the fore/aft direction and the side to side is probably a little tight. Your best bet is to get some locktite 680 and install the correct headset in the frame and let it sit over night before riding it. If you haven't already bought that frame I wouldn't unless you could get it for ~$100 or so. Fighting with these kinds of problems is never fun.

My initial thought was that they needed to be pressed in- but I found out they dont! I think I am better off now, maybe its not so stretched as I originally thought.....
