    Decent find on Craigslist?

Read MTB Action's article on the 2015 Trek Remedy 9.8 29er and always thought of it as my dream bike but after taxes brand new it would've cost me close to $6300. Checked out Craigslist and found this with a claimed 100 road miles. Checked it out; rode perfectly, has a small rub (probably from how he transported it in the back of his pick up) and one little scratch and I could tell it's never even seen the dirt! I pulled the trigger and paid a little more than half of what it would cost new, way under what the used bicycle guide suggests. What do you all think? And, yes, I'm stoked! I came off a 2014 Trek X-Caliber 9.

Looks good. As long as you ran the frame's serial number, good price too.

Pretty incredible. Did the guy say why he bought it and never rode it on trails? Seems like these kinds of situations pop up from time to time and I'm always intrigued by a guy that goes out and buys a $6000 mountain bike and never rides it. Most of us salivate over bikes like that! haha

    Decent find on Craigslist?

He mainly rides on the road so he's trying to buy a Cervelo S5. Here's the warehouse where I met him to pick up the bike... I had no fears of the MTB being stolen.

Holy crap! I guess when you own a Lambo (or Ferrari? I'm not a car guy) and a showroom full of classic muscle cars taking a chance on a new hobby with a 6k bike doesn't seem so bad lol

Car guys are crazy, and subarus are nice. I'd see what else he's selling, because that guy has money to burn.

The hell with the bike for a minute, what about vintage Mopar race cars in the background.

Those are actual race cars from the late 60's early 70's. Did you even talk to him about those?

Congrats on the bike it looks to be a killer deal.

Of course we talked about them LOL! Yeah, out of respect I took one somewhat generic pic and of course won't disclose the location. If you could see all the incredible cars and hear the stories about them... If you zoom in you can get a glimpse of a Chip Foos Mustang all the way to the left; it's original owners were the OC Choppers guys. A lot of the MOPAR race cars (some with no VIN numbers due to being race cars) have the original driver's race suits and original memorabilia. Incredible! Oh, BTW, that warehouse is one of a few. WTF???

And thanks! Planning on taking her for my maiden voyage tomorrow!

    Sweet!

Those 70' Dodge Challengers in the background were raced by Dick Landy.
Team Sox and Martin back in the day. The fastest Hemi Challengers and Cudas'. And are most famous drag cars from that era.

This is a great example of why everyone on MTBR should always encourage posters to buy those expensive bikes. Yes, of course you should drop $6k on that brand new Remedy and let's stay in touch....
