Crankbros > SPD - do XTs with platform play nice with minnars/hellcats?

Broke another pair of crankbrothers a few days ago. This time, one of my mallets snapped at the spindle. Snapped right off. Fortunately, I was riding uphill and slow. Terrified to think of what might have happened if I was going fast, landing a drop or riding something technical.

I have a pair of crappy deore pedals that so far, I honestly do not love but i'm going to give some time. I miss the float, i think maybe my knee is sore from lack of float and without the platform, the minnars are just too soft in the sole to feel comfy while pedaling. The minnars and hellcats can be a little finicky with the recessed cleat area. Anyone use the XTs with hellcats/minnars. Any interference? Good support?

If you like the feel of Crank Brothers but want a pedal that won't leave you stranded the only alternate is Time. Shimano makes a great pedal but they don't have the float that Time and Crank Brothers have.
