Chris king Griplock, is the scuff washer still needed?
Hey guys,
Just picked one of these up. Is the scuff washer still needed? Doesn't the griplock prevent that "side to side" play that would scratch up the steerer tube? The design is similar to the cane creek series and they don't have a "scuff washer" (unless I'm mistaken)
Thanks for the help guys,

You talking about the little white plastic washer?
I didn't use them on the last two builds.

Then what it's purpose now?

It's there as a compliant element in case something isn't square. It's not absolutely necessary to use on any CK headset, but I don't think the griplock has any effect on whether it's needed. It's definitely included with a grip lock headset.
