New question here. cable tension adjuster

My bike came with an inline tension adjuster that sits in between a KS Lev seat post and the release for the post. It appears that the adjuster was inserted right next to a noodle. May be wrong but I'm guessing that was done to prevent a kink from forming in the cable.

Was wondering what the process might be to install each of these and if my guess about anti-kinking is correct. Info would be helpful if/when I have to replace the cable.

Two questions: 1. In general, how does an in-line tensioner get attached to a cable? 2. How does a noodle get attached?

    Re: cable tension adjuster

Noodle? KS levs have a curved cable guide where the cable exits the handle bar mounted lever, which is about 3inch long and allows the cable to turn a 90 degree corner. Is this what you're referring to?

A tension adjuster is usually done with a barrel adjuster at one end of the cable. It gets attached by screwing it into the apparatus (whether a shifter or a dropper post lever or brake lever) and then threading the cable through it when installing. Same with the curved cable guide. My KS lev did not come with a tensioner though. This might be a feature on later runs.

If you have further questions, pics would help.

    Tensioner

Does sound like the thing I called a noodle was a cable guide. I do have a KS on an earlier version; no cable guide. The barrel adjuster butts up against it. See in pix.cable tension adjuster-imag0480.jpg
