    bike review article?

I had a co-worker ask why he shouldnt just go to walmart to get a bike instead of buying a good name brand bike. I tried to explain to him why but i dont think he was buying it, I once saw a review where a magazine editor or a bike shop bought walmart bikes and did a review from assembly to riding. I am looking for that article and cant find it, does anyone know where its at?

Very interesting read. I don't think anyone finds that too surprising though. I worked at Walmart way back when, and it was 'hey, you're in charge of sporting goods today'. So no one there is getting training on what they are selling unless they are doing it on their own time.

It's very similar to computers though. I'm a computer geek, and when people just run to Best Buy and grab some random computer because 'hey, it's only $200' it invariably turns into a mess when apps don't run or problems occur. I imagine every hobby or sport has the same thing happen.

Talking to someone who knows what they are doing is always best. And cheap is always cheap. The real question is will it do the job for the person who is buying it? A cheap PC or a cheap bike may be all someone really needs, but you need someone to make sure it's in proper working order and isn't a waste of money.
