Bike Rack with lock for car - Need Recommendation

Hi everyone. I am looking for a bike rack for my honda accord that has a lock on it. No hitch or roof rack and I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible.

I need to bring my bike with me to work if I ever want to ride during the week and don't want to leave my bike outside all day unlocked.

Anyone have any recommendations for me? TIA!

This should be interesting. I'm not aware of any trunk mounted racks that don't attach through the sole use of nylon straps, i.e. easy to cut.

Check under your car. On my Acura (just a gussied up Honda, right?) there is a tow hook in the middle. When I had a trunk rack, I looped a long cable lock though it and then through the frame. Worked fine.

I suppose if someone wanted to, they could steal the trunk rack *around* the bike, but who cares!

Just stumbled on this rack the other day - it replaces the nylon straps with steel bands that use a lockable tightening mechanism. This would, to a degree, prevent removal of the rack from your car. You could then lock your bike to the rack with a cable lock.

I wouldn't trust this for any length of time, but would probably suffice if you need to take a restroom break at the gas station.

Great advice on the tow hook, thanks!

    I'll check after work.

Yeah, I saw that rack and thats an option.

Just didn't know if anyone had any personal experiences.

You're right about a long time though. If they want to get it there's not much you can do to stop them though..just a deterrent really.

Yeah, there's never going to be a substitute from putting your bike in the trunk/backseat, annoying as that may be with removing wheels/seatpost/etc.

I do like the tow hook option though (which I'm embarrassed to say I never thought of); doesn't matter if someone can remove the rack if you do that. Cable locks are still relatively quick to cut though.
