no video for it but check the myspace. Optimus Crime: Bike Curious
no vids of these either but yeah, myspace. Dead Things: Bike Lane and Lemmy Rides a BMX

Lemmy is a song about Lemmy from Motorhead riding a BMX, classic. Both of these bands are considered "bike punk" as in, they ride bikes to tour once in a while and sing mostly about bikes or things of that nature. Although I don't think either of them are together anymore.

Doesn't really have a lot to do with bikes beyond him saying the words "Ten Speed", but I like it.

Worked at Trek/Fisher dealer 2008-2013. Only a little biased.

Blue Bicycle by Speed The Plough

Thanks Mike, for keeping music a part of our sport.

Blue Bicycle is my favorite song by Speed The Plough. Sort of Yo La Tengo meets The Feelies (the band includes former members of The Feelies). This particular youtube video is somewhat poor in quality compared to the studio version, but the song is beautiful and I love it.

The Acoustic Motorbike by Luka Bloom

Was in Sacramento last week, visiting old friends and talking about music all night long. A friend Lisa, reminded me of a show we saw at The Palms, in Davis, California, years ago. It was an acoustic show by Luka Bloom. He sang a particular song about a bike ride. Luka even brought his bike along on the U.S. tour. Here is a video of the song, along with the lyrics.

    The Acoustic Motorbike

    [IMG][/IMG]

The day began with a rainbow in the sand
    As I cycled into Kerry
Cattle grazing on a steep hillside
    Looked well fed, well balanced
    Close to the edge

Pedal on, pedal on, pedal on for miles
    Pedal on
Pedal on, pedal on, pedal on for miles
    Pedal on

I take a break, I close my eyes
And I'm happy as the dolphin
In a quiet spot talking to myself
    Talking about the rain
    Talking about the rain
    All this rain

    Pedal on
Pedal on, pedal on, pedal on for miles
    Pedal on

    You see whenever I'm alone
    I tend to brood
But when I'm out on my bike
    It's a different mood
I leave my brain at home
    Get up on the sattle
    No hanging around
    I don't diddle-daddle

    I work my legs
    I pump my thighs
Take in the scenery passing me by
The Kerry mountains or the Wicklow hills
The antidote to my emotional ills
A motion built upon human toil
    Nuclear free needs no oil
But it makes me hot, makes me hard
I never thought I could have come this far
Through miles of mountains, valleys, streams
This is the right stuff filling my dreams
So come on, get up on your bike
Ah go on, get up on your bike

    Pedal on
Pedal on, pedal on, pedal on for miles
    Pedal on

    Finally
With my face to that bitter wind
    I bombed it into Killarney
Skin raw like a sushi dinner
    And an appetite
That would eat the hind leg of the lamb of God
    Even though you know
I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing
Then settle down for a quiet night
Think about what I've seen and done
    And wonder

    There's a reason for this
    Now is the time
To speak of the problem troubling my mind
Sick of the traffic choking our towns
Freaking me out, bringing me down

Knock down houses, build more lanes
Once was a problem, now it's insane
My solution it's one that I like
    It's Muddy
    The Acoustic Motorbike
So come on, get up on your bike
Ah go on, get up on your bike

    Pedal on
Pedal on, pedal on, pedal on for miles
    Pedal on

    Ah go on
    Ah go on
    Get up on your bike
    Get up on your bike

The song by Propagandhi I was thinking of is Back to the Motor League. It also has gratuitous use of the word ****. And mentions a ten speed exactly once near the end of the song:

Phish = Let me lie is good and mellow. Not a racer tune.

Bob Dylan has a bike reference "little red wagon, little red bike" in Buckets of Rain.
    again mellow
Keep trying to do the awesomest thing you've ever done.

Everyone likes hip-hop, [STRIKE]no one likes The Cool Kids[/STRIKE]. I happen to not like The Cool Kids, at all. Good call on that video though.

    My girlfriend really likes them.
