    Basement pump track?

OK, this is a bit out there but I had a stupid idea. This idea is even stupider considering my background.

I'm 47 and have never ridden a pump track in my life. But it's been raining in Atlanta for 13 of the last 18 days and I'm sick of spinning on my trainer in the basement. Last night, I hopped on my HT and rode a couple of tiny loops in my unfinished basement.

A couple of banked turns would make it a bit easier to loop around...

I've got a pile of 2x4s that I'm not using...

Hmmm...I've seen a few videos of pump tracks. Looks fun. Is it feasible to build a wooden pump track in your basement?

    I think so. I'm only 5' 6"

Found this searching online. I have all those materials already in the basement. Just need time...

Seems to me a walk out basement would be ideal to link up with the outdoor track

Recommend you use plywood vs. 2x4s in the berms (to facilitate speed/flow) and find some way to secure the berms to the floor. Seems to me if you just leave it on the floor it will slide around when you pump the berms.

    But hey, experiment & improvise.

Atlanta? What about a commuter bike with fenders and a rain jacket? My 18 mile commute started at 13F. HTFU.

I'd be a little concerned with head room. Maybe good to get a BMX bike...gives you a little more space between the ceiling and your noggin!

Commute?? It was 41 degrees this morning!! There is no way I'm getting on a bike in these deadly, arctic temperatures!

(and I work 70 miles from home...)

It was 17 degrees this morning. I rode 25 miles. For "fun"

You know it's cold when the sweat starts freezing to your jersey.

Seriously though, that pic is sweet. If I had any woodworking skills, I'd be all over this.

Yeah, but yours isn't climate controlled.
