Lycra, because I'm worth it. Though I'm planning on getting some baggy shorts to try them.

    Depends on the ride.
High Sierra trail ride, baggies with padded insert.
Local rides, lycra bibs under baggies.
    Racing, lycra bibs.
Single speeding, always baggy something. It just seems right.

Baggies over lycra. Lycra only, when it's oppressively hot - then function overrules fashion.

Being a former roadie, I obviously have no shame and therefore wear roadie-type Lycra shorts. Where I ride, there isn't anyone to stare at my junk, anyway.

Been discussed extensively on here. Typically, standard spandex tight shorts. I have baggies w/liner, like those too. Just depends on the mood.

I'm with you on this. Hack off the legs in the summer and buy a new pair in the fall. I tried the zip-off cargo shorts but the hem on the shorts was always right on my knee. No need to know what I wear under them.

When it's really cold in the winter, I'll wear pantyhose under the jeans.

I'm not sure why you're not running flat pedals with your boots. Works for me. I've never been able to afford Tony Lamas.

the pins on the flats totally shred the leather soles.

I had to custom order my aligatsnake skin boots with Vibram rubber and a plugged recess for the option of running CB pedals for long hauls.carbon reinforced insert layer in sole. I love them like they were my children.

As someone currently living in Arkansas, I can confirm that denim overalls are the 100% best choice for riding shorts. And commando underneath, duh.

That's funny. I lived in a town called Whiskey Creek, B.C. for 17 years and that was the town uniform.

Ok, seriously. Roadie Lycra as long as I'm within visual range of my bike and am riding without any planned stops anyplace occupied by the general public...otherwise I put baggies on over the tights.

I like to wear my bibs on my head and my jersey on my lower; the chamois adds an extra layer of protection against impact and the jersey lets me "drop trou" without exposing myself to nature.

Baggies because tight shorts get caught on the saddle, which sucks not to mention potentially dangerous.

Tight shorts for the road though.

used to wear whatever was clean that day. Was 10 years younger and nothing seemed to matter. Now padding sounds good so I chose baggies with inner lining. they feel weird lol. Time will tell if it was the right choice.

Tight of course...... Wait.....This thread is not what I expected....we're talking about shorts

I ride with fox sergeants most of the time, the liners are tight, padded but breathable with a baggy outer that is fitted enough to not catch the seat nose

in winter I ride with the same liners under military BDU pants

road shorts under baggies with chamois all the time whether I am riding the MTB or the Road bike (like to be different). I consider myself a Hybrid. Now that it's a bit cooler, I'll throw on some sweat pants.

Every Spring I buy two new pair of decent quality road bibs. Last years road bibs become this years MTB bibs and last years old MTB bibs go in the trash. Been doing that way for years. Works great.

Baggy's on casual rides. Tights during the hot part of summer or any ride over an hour and a half.
Someone mentioned tights getting caught on saddle? I find the baggys do this to me more often.

For me, it's baggies over road bibs or shorts. Long tights over padded shorts or bibs when it's cold.

I had baggies once upon a time, hated them so much I never wore them again. Then again I've been wearing lycra on the road for almost 30 years. More comfortable and gives muscle support, happily married for 25 years and never look at other guys "junk".

Baggies everyday. Padding on inside of course. But baggies unless you are a hardcore xc guy that actually races.
I don't know the deal with the guys that go for rides with spandex on when just riding...
    Ruder than you.

I dunno, because traditional cycling shorts are 100% functional and not everyone feels the need to conform to the latest pop culture fashion rules or cares what other people think?

    Just a guess.
