Anyone Heard Of This? (EPX Reef)

Browsing through craigslist and came across this:

    http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/bik/1577711222.html

Looks pretty cool and from the little info I can find from them online, they seem to be carbon framed bikes from Australia? Anyone have more info? Kinda cool looking I think...

I remember them, kind of a Mountain Cycles knock-off out of Australia

The EPX Terrashark still pops up on eBay here from time to time, along with other EPX stuff. Got a carbon EPX seatpost in my HT.

Interesting. Not too much info on the Reef there, but cool to know their product offerings.

So do you think $400 is a reasonable price? Not that I'm going to get it since I'm quite satisfied with my East Peak, but I'm quite curious...

NO...no support, cheap suspension parts, not worth $400 in my book...A Marin East Peak is easily a better frame.

I agree - the frame is something of an unknown quantity - basic 8spd gear, and the Judy TT is an unpleasant, undamped pogo stick.

Good thing for this forum or I would have went to check it out of curiosity!

Unrelated, but I gotta post pics of my Marin one of these days. 8)

The EPX is not a knock off. It was highly regarded. I think the problem was that the international part of the company went bust so surplus frames were sold off with rubbish components. The frame itself is well made.

The original bikes used to sell for large sums new.

As far as I know the Australian part of the company is still going successfully, but concentrates on other c/f products.

I know a few guys who are riding Terrasharks around in the hills of Santa Cruz. Derailleur hangers went extinct after the company went out of business, so they had me make some for them. I sell hangers for the Terrashark and the Reef all over the world now.
