About the Nema Crown Jewel sizing...

For those that use the Nema Crown Jewel, what size did you get and what size street pants do you wear?

Do the Nema shorts fit small or larger for a given size?

Do these shorts have cinch straps or 1 or 2 size wiggle room?

Generally, I am a 33 waist. I wear medium or large depending on the shorts.

Im about a 40 and wear a XXL. Like other baggy MTB shorts, they are snug to get over the hips and then fit nicely. The Crown Jewels I have came with a drawstring. I added one of those barrel type devices for keeping them tight.

The sizing is very average and consistent with any other shorts I have bought.

    Based on my experience...

you would be comfortable in a large. You might be able to fit a medium, but it comes down to how loose you like your shorts

Ahhh..Info I was looking for. Would you say your Nemas a perfect fit, or would you rather have them slightly smaller. I ask because I like my baggies snug but not tight (when seated).

I'd say the fit is perfect in the Large.

I think the Mediums would be your best choice based on your preference. If you look at Nema's sizing chart they put you in a medium. You will have a little room in there too. I think you would be happiest with the mediums.

That is what I was looking for. www.nema-usa.com is poorly done and I can't find any sizing charts. Where did you see the size chart?

I'm wearing large in nema's. In steet clothes I wear a 36 but slimming mt way back to 33 or 32. The large fits me snug when trying to get them past the hips but once one are real comfortable.

I agree. I'm currently a 33 or 34 and my large Crown Jewels fit fine. I could probably get away with a medium but I prefer the large. They are baggies afterall.

Get the large. They run a little small. I am a 34 waist right now and they are a bit snug going over my hips, but are perfect once on. Definitely worth the money too. I went through several Zoic models, a Mt Borah, and a Pearl Izumi before I bought these. I have never caught my saddle on them, and they stay put while riding.

The only annoyance is the plastic drawstring hardware, which doesn't work well, and the drawstring, which fell apart. I replaced mine with a better drawstring and some sturdy pushbutton hardware off the cuffs of cargo pants from Hechts.

Thanks guys! I'm going to get the LARGE just to be safe. Last thing I need is to spend $90 then have them shrink 1/2 a size after several washes (unlikely, I know).

Unfortunately, no LBS has these in stock. I never order anything from a LBS if they don't normally stock items. I'm ordering them online.

I purchased mine at Bike Farmer.

There are also some on eBay starting at $49.99.

Mine show very little wear despite plenty of crashes and at least 100 washings over the last year.
