    Tassajara vs Big Sur

I am considering buying either a Tassajara or Big Sur, price and condition are about the same. Can anyone tell me what the differences between these two bikes are? Thanks!

It used to be that the hardtail line went Tassajara -> Hoo Koo E Koo -> Big Sur.
The Tass was a Deore rear deraileur, the HKEK was a LX and the Big Sur was an XT.
Forks typically jumped a step with the bikes. Same for the chainrings and cranks.

Frames USED to be silver, gold, platinum. Typically as the frames go up a level they loose a little weight from choice of alloy and internal tapering or butting of the tubes.

For a couple years the BS was using carbon fiber seat and chain stays around 2004-2005. They called that style of frame construction AC/DC.

They don't sell the Big Sur in the U.S. anymore.
I think the HKEK now has a platinum frame.

Typically as you step back a year or two in the same model it is sort of like stepping down a model IMO.

Since the bikes are used there is no warranty.
You can look at the components and stickers to see the differences.
