What will happen if I put a non G2 fork on a Tarpon 2011, 17,5" how big will be the difference in handling? and most important will I hit the front weal with my toes while pedaling. Sorry if my post is not in the right place, but I thought that you might know the answer. Thanks!

Your bike will explode and baby whales will die.

...or not. Obviously, Trek thinks there is a major difference or else they wouldn't have gone through the trouble to develop G2. However, I had a non-G2 warranty replacement fork on my '09 Piranha and I didn't really notice any difference to speak of. I'm not saying there is no difference, I'm just saying enjoyable mountain biking ensued regardless.

So I will no hit the front weal with my toes while pedaling due to the 46mm offset reduction? If not I think it's finally time to buy a new fork thinking about recon gold rl, the budget is tight.

My new to me '09 Tassajarra! Awesome bike once I fixed the squealing brakes! I can't believe how previous owner maintained it, squeeze front brake and watch caliper assembly flex apart due to top bolt loose, caliper so out of alignment the rotor scrapped away the paint on the mounting bracket, loose bolt may explain pad contamination and fluid loss? You think? I tightened bolts, aligned calipers, baked pads, sanded and re-bedded, topped off fluid (no full mark) and all is fine. All except the roast potatoes the wife was cooking, they tasted funny

As far as I know the G2 forks have 51mm offset, and the standard is 46. A difference of only 5mm. Unless your toe overlap is very close right now, you should be OK.

Hey, it's my first mountain bike.
Just picked it up for $100
It's either a 05/06 Advance I think all stock except for the pedals.
The guy told me it needs a new RD and I can feel the aheadset is loose.I'm going to try to tighten it up the headset and the RD.

2004 Cake 3. It's taken a lot of abuse over the last 7 years and still going strong.
